Confessions of a {real mom} dietitian

little stinker costume I have a confession to make.

My 2 year old, the Little Stinker, was adorable this year all dressed up for the Fall Festival at a local church.  So adorable that people were pointing at him and smiling and even asking where I got his costume!

Much to my surprise, he did not want to keep his costume on.  We were in a hurry to get out the door and he was screaming and pulling it off.

What was I to do?

This is where my confession comes in: I pulled out a bag of chocolate chips and poured a few in a bowl.  Yep, I did it.  I bribed him with food.

My point in making this confession is not to condone this behavior, but rather, to explain that my family has imperfect moments and imperfect foods at times.  Why?  Because we are imperfect people.

Some people reading this post are probably thinking “Yeah, that’s great. So what?”

Others are really feeling comforted to hear another mom say she gave her 2 year old chocolate chips to bribe him.  And those are the other moms, like myself, who put a lot of pressure on themselves to be “perfect.”  And when we aren’t, we really beat ourselves up!

I try to give my family foods that have health benefits and that also taste good.  This is quite a challenge in our crazy busy lives we lead, so I hope that this blog gives you some new ideas for healthy eating with some occasional “indulgences!”

These are the confessions of a real mom, who also just happens to be a dietitian.
